Slow Cooker Sweet Potatoes With Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 6 medium (2 pounds) sweet potatoes or yams, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 1-teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, toasted
Cooking Instructions
*Place sweet potatoes in 2 to 3½-quart slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients except nuts; spoon over potatoes.

*Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until potatoes are very tender.

*Sprinkle with nuts.

*Note: This recipe was tested in slow cookers with heating elements in the side and bottom of the cooker, not in cookers that stand only on a heated base. For slow cookers with just a heated base, follow manufacturer’s directions for layering ingredients and choosing a temperature.
