The Bald Eaglet

A few months ago I reported our walk on Honeymoon Island where we saw some nesting Bald Eagles. So, we decided to go again this morning for a hike and see their progress. Lo and behold, they have a baby! Well, as you can see in my photo below, an 11-week old eaglet doesn't look much like a baby. We also spoke with one of the volunteers stationed at the viewing point. He has a great site with a photo from each week of the eaglet's life: Birding with Wilf.

It is very exciting to have the Bald Eagle nest here, as there hasn't been one on Honeymoon Island in recent memory. (I say that because I'm sure at one point there were many more animals that aren't there now!) In any case, it's nice to see an animal that is endangered making a comeback!
