The Bald Eaglet

A few months ago I reported our walk on Honeymoon Island where we saw some nesting Bald Eagles. So, we decided to go again this morning for a hike and see their progress. Lo and behold, they have a baby! Well, as you can see in my photo below, an 11-week old eaglet doesn't look much like a baby. We also spoke with one of the volunteers stationed at the viewing point. Meet the New Neighbors


We have a new neighbor: an American Bald Eagle! On Sunday morn, Mike and I took a hike out at Honeymoon Island State Park, only to find a portion of the trail cordoned off. The signs explained that a pair of Bald Eagles had built a nest and would be here for the next few months. And lo and behold, there was one of the eagles, perched next to the nest, standing watch. It was exciting to me because I've only ever seen Bald Eagles at the zoo. One of the photos is above, taken
